Fruit trees
It has been agreed that plot holders may plant fruit trees on their plot subject to the following conditions:
Fruit trees planted must be on dwarf stock only.
Dwarf stock is classified as ‘M27 Very Dwarf Patio tree’ or ‘M9 Dwarf tree’ at garden centres.
M27 grows to a maximum height 6ft/1.8m.
M9 grows to a maximum height 8ft/2.4m.
M26 Semi-dwarf stock is not allowed.
Self-planted dwarf stock trees are to be pruned annually to a maximum height of 6ft/1.8m.
Fruit trees must be planted a minimum one metre within the plot boundary so as not to encroach on boundary paths and neighbouring plots as they mature.
A maximum of one-third of a plot may be planted with dwarf fruit trees.
The exact proposed location of the fruit tree must be agreed with your Site Representative and/or the Lettings Officer prior to planting via this application form.
Only dwarf Fruit trees are permitted to be planted on allotment plots, ornamental trees are not allowed.
Please see information on dwarf fruit stock here and here.
